Box, Paperwork & Accessories: NoneOur Assessment: The Smith & Wesson Model 25-2, also known as the “Model 1955”, is a large-frame, double-action revolver chambered in .45 ACP, designed for precision shooting and competitive target use. Built on Smith & Wesson’s robust N-frame, the Model 25-2 was introduced as an evolution of the 1950 Target Model, refining accuracy and handling for serious shooters. Featuring a 6.5-inch or 6-inch barrel, a pinned Patridge front sight, and a fully adjustable rear sight, the revolver was built for superior accuracy and control. Like other .45 ACP revolvers, it utilizes moon clips to facilitate quick loading and ejection, as the rimless cartridge was originally designed for semi-automatic pistols.Renowned for its outstanding accuracy and smooth trigger, the Model 25-2 became a favorite among competitive bullseye shooters and collectors alike. Its blued steel construction, checkered walnut target grips, and finely tuned action exemplify Smith & Wesson’s craftsmanship during the golden era of revolver production. The revolver’s ability to shoot both .45 ACP and .45 Auto Rim cartridges gives it versatility, making it a prized firearm for both range use and historical appreciation. Today, the Model 25-2 remains highly sought after, particularly among revolver enthusiasts who value classic design, precision engineering, and the powerful yet manageable .45 ACP chambering.  This revolver has had its barrel shortened to 4” but will still make an excellent plinker.
