Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “SMITH & WESSON / SPRINGFIELD, MA. U.S.A.” the right has the S&W logo, the left of the frame is marked with the model and serial number. The barrel is marked “10mm”. The factory box is serialized to the pistol and reflects its configuration.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is is a black blade with a white dot, which is dovetailed onto a rise in the slide. The rear sight is a square notched leaf in a “U” shaped protective metal base; the sight is adjustable for windage and elevation.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are a one piece checkered black Xenoy stock that wraps around the back strap of the frame; the fore strap is serrated.; there are no cracks or major damages,The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp, with only faint wear. There is no erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The surfaces show no scuffs or areas of edge wear, The only real marks on this weapon are from function. There are two small ring marks on the front grip face; being a stainless steel pistol, most of the marks can probably be removed with some TLC. The screw heads are sharp and highly serviceable. The markings are crisp. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine Plus to Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This pistol has a smooth double action trigger pull and just a small amount of creep, before a crisp break in single action. The slide has mild play to the frame. The ambidextrous slide safety doubles as a decocker and the item has a magazine disconnect safety. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is the original factory box, which shows roughing and scrapes from storage, a few punctures and small tears are present, in Good condition. Also included is a group of factory paperwork and 2 9-round magazines, in Excellent condition.Also included is the factory cleaning rod and sponge.

Our Assessment: Smith and Wesson 10mm Model 1006 is constructed entirely of stainless steel, a 5 in (127 mm) barrel and a 9 round single column magazine. Its safety is a slide mounted de-cock/safety, internal safeties are a magazine disconnect and firing pin block. It is available with fixed or adjustable sights. The model 1006 was the first in the S&W 1000 series of third generation semi-automatic handguns. Variations include the models 1046, 1026, 1066, 1076 (FBI model) and 1086. The 1000 series were some of the most robust, sturdy 10 mm handguns ever built, easily handling the power of this potent cartridge. Other third generation S&W auto series include the 5906, 4006 and 4506.” This pistol was made sometime in the early 1990’s and is still in Excellent condition. It almost looks like a 1911 but has a double and single action trigger pull. With the ambidextrous decocker safety and tight slide to frame fit, this stainless beast should be reliable and accurate for a long time to come.
