Bore Condition:  The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore and just a touch of fouling.  In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.5/10.

Overall Condition:  The balance of the finish shows mild handling wear in the form of tiny scratches.  The cylinder has a very light turn line.  The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear.  Overall, this handgun rates in Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics:  The action functions correctly.  The cylinder lockup only light play on each of the six chambers and timing is good.  The double-action trigger is light and smooth and the single-action is light and very crisp.  We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories:  Original S&W box and paperwork.  (Note:  The label with serial number has fallen off of the box but is still present inside the box)

Our Assessment: The S&W Model 624 was called the Target Stainless and was produced only from 1985-1988.  They were produced with two kinds of trigger and two kinds of hammer – this one comes with the .500” target hammer and the .400” serrated trigger.  Its Goncalo alves grips and nice condition should make it attractive to collectors or those looking for a traditional target pistol applications.  -C.B.
