Our Assessment:  Smith & Wesson claims this has the highest velocity of any production revolver on earth.

It is hard to improve on an introduction like that.  Cor-Bon 200gr. Bullets are rated at 2300fps out of an 8 3/8 ” barrel.  This would place its muzzle energy somewhere between .30-30 and .30-06, which is impressive out of a handgun, in any case.  The “XVR” stands for “Extreme Velocity Revolver,” and it is all of that.

The 460XVR is part of Smith & Wesson’s Performance Center line, which means it benefits from enhanced features and attention to detail. Performance Center firearms are hand-tuned and assembled by skilled gunsmiths, ensuring exceptional quality and performance. Additionally, it is equipped with an integral rail for mounting optics, further enhancing its versatility and accuracy for long-range shooting.

This revolver can be fired with .460 S&W, .454 Casull, and .45 Long Colt, allowing for cost savings and recoil-tolerance while practice shooting.

This particular revolver is in really great shape.  This behemoth weighs 6lb, 6oz.  Its DA/SA simplicity and very high muzzle energy would make it a very good choice if one had to face “Old Ephraim” up close.  Please see our photos.  -C.B.
