Our Assessment: The Smith & Wesson Model 57 was introduced in 1964 as the high-end .41 Magnum revolver, designed as a premium offering for law enforcement and sporting use. Built on the N-frame, it features the same craftsmanship as the legendary Model 29 but in a caliber with a flatter trajectory and lower recoil than the .44 Magnum.
This 1977-1978 example is a classic pinned-barrel revolver with all the desirable features collectors look for—target hammer, target trigger, and Goncalo Alves target grips with the football cut. With its long 8 3/8” barrel, adjustable sights, and excellent 98% condition, it is ideal for target shooting, handgun hunting, or investment purposes.
For collectors and enthusiasts, this Model 57 is a stunning example of Smith & Wesson’s top-tier revolver craftsmanship. With its exceptional finish, sharp bore, and premium features, it would make an outstanding addition to any collection or a refined choice for those who appreciate classic magnum revolvers.
