Markings:  The left side of the slide is marked “SIG SAUER 1911 1776”, The right side of the frame is marked “SIG SAUER INC. / NEWINGTON-NH-USA”, “54B173865”. The chamber is marked “.45 AUTO / SIG SAUER”. The right side of the slide is marked “WE THE PEOPLE”. The top of the slide has 13 stars. Each grip panel has 25 stars, 50 total.   

Barrel Length: 5”.  

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a tritium lamp night sight dovetailed to the slide. The rear sight is a square notch sight with a two tritium lamp rear sight. Three tritium Lamp sighting system. The Lamps glow brightly in low light conditions.    

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are a two piece metal grip set screw set to the frame with raised stars for texture. The grips have had a rubber insert installed under the grips that adds finger grooves to the front strap. The finish on the grips is distressed from the factory but no notable wear or marks are observed. Overall the grips are in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. There is some stubborn fouling in the grooves. The feed ramp is smooth and shiny. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.5/10.

Magazine quantity and condition: This pistol includes two x 7 round SIG magazines in Very Good+ condition. 

Overall Condition: This pistol shows some minor rub marks in the magazine well. The barrel hood shows some minor rub wear as well. The screw heads are undamaged. The pins un-marred. The action is smooth. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.  

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide has no play to the frame. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. Features a Grip safety and ambi thumb safety.

Our Assessment: This SIG Sauer 1911 “We The People” is a full-size Government-pattern 1911 chambered in .45 ACP, featuring a 5-inch barrel and a distinctive distressed gray finish. SIG designed the “We The People” edition as a patriotic tribute pistol, blending classic 1911 styling with custom engraving and modern defensive features. The slide is engraved with both “1776” and “We The People,” while the top of the slide is adorned with 13 stars representing the original colonies, giving the pistol a bold and unmistakable appearance.

This example features star-pattern grips incorporating 25 stars per panel, along with an ambidextrous manual safety for improved usability by both right- and left-handed shooters. The pistol is also equipped with tritium night sights, providing excellent visibility in low-light conditions while maintaining the practical defensive capability expected from a modern 1911. Overall, it represents a visually striking and well-equipped commemorative-style handgun that combines patriotic styling with the proven performance and ergonomics of the 1911 platform.
