Markings: The tang is marked “B1502”.The top of the barrel is marked “Shiloh-Sharps Model 1874” and “CALIBRE 45 / 21/10”. The left side of the receiver is marked “SHILOH RIFLE MFG. CO. BIG TIMBER, MONTANA.”.
Barrel Length: 34” Heavy Octagon Barrel.
Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a Globe front sight with a fixed circle post that is dovetailed to the barrel. This rifle includes an MVA tang mounted Vernier Style micrometer rear sight with a Long Range 4.5” Staff with 3.5” of adjustment, a “small” eye disc and a fire blued base.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is a two piece smooth “Fancy” walnut. The buttstock is a full pistol grip with checkered curved lower tang, straight comb with cheek piece, and has a black checkered buttplate. The handguard is a traditional Schnabel handguard. The wood shows some scattered small marks, with a small chip on the forend just in front of the receiver and a small dent in the pistol grip. The LOP measures 14.25? from the front trigger to the back of the buttplate. The Furniture rates in Very Good to Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel is blued and the receiver, lever, tang and hammer are color case hardened. The tang sight base is fire blued.
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The screw heads are undamaged and sharp. The markings are clear. However the falling block, chamber face, sight base and sight all have surface rust. If not for the rust this rifle would rate in Excellent Condition.
Mechanics: This rifle has double set triggers, which function correctly. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
