Our Assessment: This Shiloh Rifle Manufacturing Company Model 1874 Sharps Saddle Rifle was manufactured in 2004 in Big Timber, Montana, and is chambered in .45-70 Government with a 28-inch heavy half-octagon barrel. The rifle reflects Shiloh’s reputation for producing high-quality reproductions of classic American single-shot rifles, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern precision. It is further accompanied by two .22 LR bore sleeves, allowing the rifle to be converted for rimfire use, adding a unique and practical dimension to an otherwise traditional large-caliber configuration.

The rifle is fitted with presentation-grade walnut furniture, including a straight-hand stock with cheek piece and an ebony-tipped Schnabel forend. It features a case-colored receiver, blued barrel, and fire-blued screws, along with double set triggers, all of which contribute to both its aesthetic appeal and functional refinement. Overall, this is a finely appointed example of a Shiloh Sharps, blending classic 19th-century design with modern craftsmanship and the added versatility of caliber conversion.
