Markings: The tang is marked “B6189”.The top of the barrel is marked “Shiloh-Sharps Model 1874” and “CALIBRE 45 / 21/10”. The left side of the receiver is marked “SHILOH RIFLE MFG. CO. BIG TIMBER, MONTANA.”.
Barrel Length: 34” High Gloss Heavy Octagon Barrel.
Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a Globe front sight with a circle post insert. The rear sight is a flip-up ladder sight marked from 2-8 with a small notch semi buckhorn sight when the ladder is folded down. Both front and rear sights are dovetailed into the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is a two piece smooth “Fancy” walnut. The buttstock is a full pistol grip with checkered curved lower tang, straight comb with cheek piece, and has a case colored checkered buttplate with fire blued screws. The handguard features a Hartford tip smooth forend with fire blued screws. The Hartford tip has some very minor surface lines. The wood on this rifle shows a very fine line on the left side of the forend and a few very small marks on the stock. The color case hardened buttplate has no wear. The LOP measures 14? from the front trigger to the back of the buttplate. The Furniture rates in Excellent + overall condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel is finished with a high gloss blue and the receiver, lever, buttplate, tang and hammer are color case hardened. All the screws are fire blued.
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The bore is mirror bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The barrel has a small mark on the left side just in front of the receiver and the hammer retention screw has a few small nicks in the finish. The screw slots are undamaged and sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent + condition.
Mechanics: This rifle has double set triggers, which function correctly. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
