Markings: The tang is marked “B8290”.The top of the barrel is marked “Shiloh-Sharps Model 1874” and “CALIBRE 45 2 7/8”. The left side of the receiver is marked “SHILOH RIFLE MFG. CO. BIG TIMBER, MONTANA.”
Barrel Length: 30″ Heavy Octagon Barrel Hartford collar. Total weight 11 lbs 8 oz.
Sights / Optics: This rifle is mounted with a Beech Combination front sight dovetailed to the barrel. The rear dovetail on the barrel is carrying a flip up ladder sight with semi buck-horn notch sight. This rifle has an MVA Vernier style sight with mid range staff, windage adjustment and “small” eye disc. The rifle also includes a globe sight and full insert card.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture is a two piece smooth walnut. The buttstock is a straight hand, with long lower tang, straight comb, and has a case color smooth metal butt plate. The handguard features a traditional pewter tipped smooth forend. The LOP measures 14? from the front trigger to the back of the butt plate. The tip shows some surface level lines common with this finish. The wood shows some small scattered compressions and very minor surface level lines. The most notable marr is a series of small compressions on the left flank just in front of the butt plate. There are no chips or cracks. The butt plate shows no wear. The Furniture rates in about Very Good+-Excellent overall condition.
Type of Finish: The barrel is blued and the receiver, lever, tang and hammer and butt plate are case color.
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion. If this rifle was fired outside of factory testing it was very little. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The barrel shows a few very small scattered marks with a surface level line on the right side. The lower tang has a very small mark from the lever. The receiver has a few surface level lines. The screw heads are undamaged and sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent to Like New condition.
Mechanics: This rifle has double set triggers, which function correctly and are exceptionally smooth. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle includes the sight card, globe sight, and a leather sling.

Built in the style of the great buffalo and long-range target rifles of the American frontier era, this rifle features a Hartford collar at the receiver and excellent period-correct styling throughout. It is also fitted with a Montana Vintage Arms Vernier Tang Sight with mid-range staff, windage adjustment, and a small eye disc, and additionally includes a globe front sight with a full insert card for precision target shooting. The rifle features smooth walnut furniture with a straight-hand stock, long lower tang, straight comb, and case-colored smooth metal butt plate. Sling swivels and a leather sling complete the classic configuration, making this an exceptionally attractive and very well-appointed Sharps rifle suited for both collecting and serious cartridge shooting.
