Action Type: Single Shot, Lever Operated, Falling Block Action, with double set adjustable Triggers.

Markings: The top of the barrel at the front of the forend is marked “Old Reliable”. The top of the barrel is also marked “C. SHARPS ARMS CO. INC. / BIG TIMBER, MONTANA, U.S.A.” and near the receiver with ”CAL. 45  26/10”. The left side of the receiver is marked “SHILOH RIFLE MFG. CO. BIG TIMBER, MONTANA.” The top tang is marked “7723”. The buttpad is marked “SHARPS OLD RELIABLE”.

Barrel Length: 30” C. Sharps Heavy profile octagon barrel. This rifle weighs 12 lbs 3oz.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a globe sight with a wide post insert and spirit level. The top of the barrel has been drilled and tapped for the scope mounting blocks attached to the barrel. The tang currently has a tang sight base mounted with no tang sight included.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set is a two piece smooth walnut with a Hartford tip forend, and a long curved tang semi-pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece, and a black plastic buttplate. The LOP with the leather buttpad installed is 15” from the front of the front trigger to the back of the buttpad. The forend shows light scattered scratches, compressions and lines. The Hartford tip shows light scratches. The stock shows scattered scratches and compressions with a large chip missing from the leading edge of the pommel. The buttplate has some sort of glue-like substance covering it. There is a small visible crack forming from the rear right edge of the upper tang. Overall the wood furniture is in Fair condition.

Type of Finish: Blued, Case colored.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is well defined. There is no visible erosion. There is some minor lead fouling scattered throughout the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 8.5/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The leading edges of the muzzle show thinning in the finish. There is some yellow paint on the barrel. The barrel shows some very minor scattered marks. The receiver shows scattered surface lines. The lever has some nicks in the edges. The screw heads range from sharp to slightly tool marked. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle is in Good overall condition.

Mechanics: The action and set triggers function correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle includes the leather butt pad.
