Sights / Optics: The front sight is a fixed blade attached to the barrel, the rear sight is a “V” notch adjustable flip up sliding ladder sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The two piece smooth wood stock has a case hardened compartment, straight grip, straight comb, and case hardened buttplate. The wood shows light handling and storage marks. There are a few minor scratches and scuffs. The LOP measures 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. This stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion and for the age, this bore rates a 10 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear from handling and storage. There are a few minor scratches, there is light surface erosion in a few places. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent, Near New condition.
Mechanics: The action functions Correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Sharps Model 1874 is a single-shot, breech-loading rifle that was produced by the Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company from 1874 to 1881. It was a popular rifle during the late 19th century and was used by a variety of individuals, including buffalo hunters, trappers, and soldiers. The Sharps Model 1874 was known for its accuracy and durability. It featured a falling block action, which allowed for quick and easy reloading, and was chambered in a variety of calibers, including .45-70, .50-70, and .45-110. The rifle had a long barrel, which helped to increase its accuracy, and was often used with a long-range peep sight.
This example is a modern Shiloh Sharps 1874 chambered for .50 caliber, it was made sometime after 1990. This rifle is in Excellent, Near New condition, showing little to no use. This gun has a well preserved smooth wood stock, a beautiful blued barrel and case hardened receiver. This 1874 is in great shape and would go well in any sharps collection.
