Our Assessment: This Shiloh Rifle Manufacturing Co. New Model 1863 is a high-quality, modern reproduction of the legendary Sharps percussion rifle. The original Sharps rifles were some of the most advanced and reliable firearms of the mid-19th century, famed for their role in the Civil War and the Plains Indian Wars. With their ability to fire paper cartridges and rapid reload times compared to muzzleloaders, Sharps rifles were a favorite among Union sharpshooters and frontier marksmen alike.

This example, manufactured by Shiloh Rifle MFG Co. in Big Timber, Montana, is a faithful recreation of the classic design, featuring a round 30” blued barrel, case-hardened breech block, and a beautifully crafted English-style walnut stock. The rear ladder sight allows for adjustable long-range accuracy, true to the original design.

The rifle remains in near-new condition, with minimal signs of handling or use. The bore is exceptionally clean, rated 9.5/10, and the overall finish is above 95% intact. The 13.5” length of pull ensures comfortable handling, whether for target shooting or historical reenactment.

For those who admire Civil War-era arms, classic single-shot rifles, or Shiloh Sharps craftsmanship, this New Model 1863 percussion rifle is an excellent acquisition. Its combination of historical accuracy, impeccable condition, and renowned quality makes it a standout piece for any collection. So bid high and bid firm.
