Sights / Optics: The front sight is a red fiber optic mounted blade integral to a mount fixed to the top of the barrel above the muzzle. The rear sight is a two-dot green fiber optic U-notch dovetailed into a mount adjustable for elevation fixed to the top of the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped and installed with mounts and 1” rings holding a Leupold M8-4X scope with a duplex reticle. The scope body has only a few light scratches and scuffs, no notable damage or wear. The scope glass is clear.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece synthetic featuring a checkered forend, checkered semi-pistol grip with Savage Arms cap, fluted straight comb, two sling studs front and rear, ram rod pipe, and a soft black rubber buttpad. The stock shows no notable damage or wear, just light handling marks and minor finish loss on the checkering and sides of the buttstock. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/8” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The heel and toe of the buttpad are slightly torn. The stock is in Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains 97% of its finish. The balance of the finish shows little to no operation wear. There is minor finish loss on the muzzle. There is some wear on the ram rod and tarnish on the brass tip. Overall, this black powder rifle rates in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions normally. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box Paperwork and Accessories: This rifle comes with its attached scope as mentioned above and its installed ramrod.
Our Assessment: The Savage 10ML – II was introduced as a modernization of the black powder muzzle loader platform. The primary difference between the 10ML – II and the original 10ML is that the 10ML – II IS considered an ANTIQUE by ATF and does NOT require an FFL for transfer. From the inception, this design proved very popular. This rifle fills many roles, including extending hunting seasons qualification for black powder or muzzleloaders or for marksmanship on the range. They are known for their reliability, aided by being ignited by a 209 shotgun primer rather than a percussion cap, which is not only more consistent but also typically more common to find on the shelf at your local reloading supply store.
