Our Assessment: The Soviet TT-33 Tokarev was adopted in 1933 as a simplified development of Fedor Tokarev’s earlier TT-30 and became one of the principal Soviet military sidearms of World War II. Chambered in the high-velocity 7.62x25mm Tokarev cartridge, the TT-33 uses a Browning-derived short-recoil, locked-breech system with a removable hammer and sear assembly and an 8-round detachable magazine. This example was manufactured at Tula Arsenal in 1941, an especially significant year as Tula’s arms production was disrupted and evacuated during the German advance later that year. The frame, slide, and barrel are matching-numbered “NZH903”, while the trigger assembly is correctly marked “03” to match the final two digits. The star-and-“CCCP” grip panels are characteristic of Soviet production of this period.

This pistol retains approximately 85% of its original blue finish with scratches, scattered thinning, freckling, and normal handling and storage wear. The serrated Soviet grip panels remain in Good condition with scratches, nicks, and several chipped serrations but no cracks. The bore is semi-bright with defined rifling and shows light erosion and light to moderate pitting, rating 6/10 in this writer’s opinion. The action functions correctly, though we did not fire this pistol. Two nonmatching 8-round magazines and a holster are included.
