Sights / Optics: The front sight is an adjustable post with protective wings. The rear sight is a square notched leaf sliding sight marked out 1-3. The left side of the receiver has a side mounting rail.

Stock Configuration & Condition: This rifle has a four piece wood with straight comb, vented forend, wooden semi pistol grip, and grooved metal buttplate. There is light handling wear. There are light scratches throughout. There are no chips or cracks. Overall this stock set rates in about Excellent condition.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: Two 30rd magazines. One is a circle 10 magazine and the other is a Plum Izhmash magazine. Both are in Very Good condition.  

Type of Finish:  Black

Finish Originality: Original, All serialized parts match

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9 out of 10. 

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light handling and operational wear. There are a few light scratches throughout. There is operational wear from the safety switch. There are spots of light thinning. The screw heads are sharp and rivets are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition.  

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Izhmash Saiga in 5.45×39mm configuration represents one of the closest commercially imported rifles to the Russian AK-74 pattern available on the U.S. market. Produced at the famed Izhmash factory, later known as Kalashnikov Concern, these rifles retain the proven long-stroke piston system and chrome-lined barrel associated with the Kalashnikov family. This example has been configured in traditional AK-74 style with proper wood furniture and military-pattern magazines, giving it the appearance and handling characteristics of a classic Russian service rifle.

This 2009-dated example presents in very good plus overall condition, retaining nearly all of its original finish with only light handling and operational wear visible. The rifle features a front sight post protected by wings and a tangent rear sight graduated from 1 to 3, along with the proper Russian-pattern side rail for optics mounting. The wood furniture remains in excellent condition with only minor handling marks, and the bore is bright with sharp rifling. Included are both a Bulgarian Circle 10 magazine and a desirable plum Izhmash magazine, adding collector appeal. The action functions correctly, and all serialized parts remain matching.
