Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is a U-notch sliding escalator attached to the barrel. The scope is mounted to the barrel shank. The scope is marked “1938” on the left and the right side is marked with “N.6-9488”. The scope is in very good condition with clear glass.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The rifle features a two-piece wood stock with a straight grip, finger grooves, metal nose cap, cutout for the included cleaning rod, two barrel bands, two sling eyelets, a through bolt, and a metal buttplate. The wood has light compression marks, scuffs, and scratches throughout. Wear is visible on the upper handguard and at the toe of the buttstock. The LOP measures 13.5” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. Overall, the stock is in Very Good condition.

Finish Originality: Original to Arsenal Refurbishment

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright with strong rifling. There is no notable erosion. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains over 95% of its metal finish as factory arsenal. There are scuffs and scratches throughout the metal surfaces. Areas of black paint on the nose caps are worn. The sling eyelets show thinning and wear to the finish. The muzzle has wear with longer drag marks. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition as factory-refinished.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Includes a canvas sling, cleaning rod, and bayonet, all in good condition.

Our Assessment: The Mosin Nagant M91/30 served as the primary service rifle for the Soviet Union throughout the 1930s and into the Second World War. This interwar example, manufactured by the Izhevsk Arsenal in 1930, is a well-preserved representation of this iconic rifle.

This rifle retains over 95% of its original factory arsenal finish, with signs of handling and wear consistent with age and service. The bore is in excellent condition, rated 9/10, with a semi-bright finish and strong rifling, ensuring its potential as an effective shooter. The stock, while showing some wear to the finish, remains in very good condition, making this rifle an appealing addition to any collection.
