Our Assessment: The Ruger Old Model Super Blackhawk is one of the classic large-frame single-action revolvers of the postwar era, developed to handle the powerful .44 Magnum cartridge in a robust and traditional revolver format. This 1969 example represents the desirable Old Model “3-Screw” configuration, retaining the original four-click hammer system and lacking the later transfer-bar conversion. Its 7.5″ barrel, adjustable rear sight, smooth walnut grips, and heavy Super Blackhawk frame make it a classic hunting and sporting revolver, while the unconverted Old Model lockwork adds meaningful collector interest.

This revolver is in Fine to Excellent condition overall, retaining about 99% of its original blue finish with only faint handling marks, light operational wear, and a thin, crisp cylinder turn line. The smooth walnut grips remain in Fine condition with a few minor scratches and compressions on the right panel, but no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10/10, while the action functions correctly with the original four-click hammer system intact. It includes its serial-number-matching factory box and owner’s manual/paperwork, adding desirable completeness to this early Super Blackhawk.
