Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with some minor thinning of the finish on the forend cap. Otherwise, the bluing is deep and dark throughout. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are lightly tooled, but retain strong and serviceable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Good to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the tang mounted safety. The trigger has a crisp and clean break. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the scope as mentioned above.
Our Assessment: The Ruger No. 1 RSI International is one of the most distinctive sporting rifles of the late 20th century, pairing Bill Ruger’s robust falling block action with a full-length mannlicher stock in the European tradition. Introduced as part of the No. 1 series in the 1970s, the RSI variant features a 20 inch barrel and full-length walnut stock that runs to the muzzle, creating a compact, balanced rifle with unmistakable profile. Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, a cartridge introduced in 1906 and long regarded as one of the most versatile sporting rounds ever developed, this rifle combines classic aesthetics with practical field performance.
This 1997 example retains approximately 98 percent of its original blued finish with only minor thinning at the forend cap and light handling wear. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates 10 out of 10. The mannlicher walnut stock remains in Good condition with scattered handling marks but no structural concerns, and the checkering is still well defined. The Shepherd 3-10x scope is clear and in Excellent condition, mounted correctly to the quarter rib with Ruger rings. The falling block action operates properly with a crisp trigger and positive tang safety. Please see our photos for a better understanding of condition and good luck with your bids! – J.D.
