Markings: The top of the barrel is marked with Ruger’s address. The left side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN THE 200th YEAR OF AMERICAN LIBERTY 25-06 REM.”. The top of the receiver is marked “RUGER / NO. 1”. The bottom of the receiver is marked with the serial number.

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is mounted with a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10x scope, with a duplex reticle. The glass in the scope is clear. The scope shows light wear, with one considerable ding on the back edge of the scope, and a few light dings on the turret caps. Overall, the scope rates in Good to Very Good condition. The scope is mounted directly to the quarter rib by 1″ Ruger rings.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are a two-piece checkered walnut stock set, with a capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, red rubber Ruger buttpad, and a checkered forend with sling studs front and rear. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock shows light to moderate wear, with light scratches, dings, compressions, and scuffs throughout. There are a few small spots of finish wear on the right side, and on the bottom of the forend. The checkering is mostly well defined, with one ding landing in the checkering on the left side of the forend. The stocks fit tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stocks rate in Good to Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with light scratches scattered throughout the barrel and receiver, along with some light thinning of the finish at the muzzle, and on the leading edges of the lever. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads range from lightly tooled to sharp, but all screws have strong and serviceable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Good to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Ruger No. 1 is a modern American interpretation of the classic falling-block sporting rifle, combining a compact, exceptionally strong single-shot action with elegant lines and traditional walnut furniture. The No. 1-B configuration uses a 26″ barrel and quarter rib without iron sights, emphasizing scoped field use and the ballistic potential of cartridges such as the flat-shooting .25-06 Remington. Manufactured during the United States Bicentennial, this example also carries Ruger’s distinctive 1976 commemorative marking, adding period interest without detracting from its utility as a sporting rifle.
This rifle retains approximately 90% of its original blue finish, with scattered scratches, light muzzle thinning, and edge wear on the lever. The checkered walnut stocks show honest wear and localized finish loss but remain tight, solid, and free of chips or cracks. Its bore is excellent, remaining bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, and both the falling-block action and safety function correctly. The included Leupold Vari-X III 3.5–10x scope has clear glass and remains serviceable, though its exterior shows a prominent ding near the rear and additional wear on the turret caps. This is an attractive Bicentennial-production No. 1-B with a strong bore, desirable chambering, and quality period-style optic.
