Markings:  The bottom of the ejector rod shroud is marked “READ INSTRUCTION MANUAL BEFORE USING FIREARM/ RUGER, NEWPORT, NH USA”.  The right side of the frame is marked “ SASS05270 / SASS05269 ”.  The left side of the frame is marked “RUGER NEW VAQUERO / 357 MAG CAL”. The sides of the grips have SASS medallions.

Barrel Length: 4.5”

Sights / Optics:  The front sight is a blade fixed to the barrel, originally there was brass sleeves on the sights however one of the pistols have lost theirs.  The rear sight is a rectangular notch in the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are black polymer with checkering and SASS medallions. The grips have light wear from use. The serial number 70 pistol has some light dings. There are no chips or cracks. The bottom of the grips both have a few handling marks. The grips are in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition:  The bores are bright and the rifling is sharp.  There is no erosion or fouling. In this writer’s opinion these bores rate at a 9/10.

Overall Condition: The 70 serial handgun retains about 98% of its metal finish. The turn line is crisp but faint. There are light small scratches on the frame and barrel and a few small scuffs on the cylinder. There is heat discoloration on the cylinder. There is heavy carbon fouling inside the frame and on the cylinder. The front sight brass is missing. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. The action shows some operation wear.  Overall, this handgun rates in about Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The actions function as intended. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. They are smooth with super light hammers. These pistols have been set up for SASS.
