Overall, the stock rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore, but there is minor fouling present. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.75/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with minor finish thinning at the muzzle, a minor scuff on the right side of the front sight, and only a few minor dings scattered throughout the rest of the metal surfaces. The bluing is deep and dark throughout, otherwise. The action shows some operational marks on the friction surfaces. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good to Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: The Ruger Mark II Magnum in .416 Rigby represents one of the classic American interpretations of a dangerous game rifle. Built in 1991, this model was designed around Ruger’s controlled round feed action with a large non-rotating extractor and fixed blade ejector, features long associated with reliability under harsh field conditions. The .416 Rigby cartridge, introduced in 1911 for use in African safari rifles, remains one of the great heavy calibers for dangerous game, known for launching a 400-grain bullet at substantial velocity while maintaining manageable pressure for reliable feeding. The integral quarter rib with express rear leaves and barrel-mounted front sight underscore the rifle’s intended role as a serious big & dangerous game tool.
This example retains approximately 98 percent of its original blued finish with only minor thinning at the muzzle, a small scuff on the front sight, and light handling marks throughout. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates 9.75 out of 10. The walnut stock remains in Very Good condition with well-defined checkering and solid fit to the action. The action cycles properly and shows only minor operational marks on the friction surfaces. Please see our photos for a better understanding of condition and good luck with your bids! – J.D.
