Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “30-06 SPRG”. The top of the barrel is marked with Ruger’s 2-line warning & Newport address. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number and “RUGER M77 HAWKEYE”. The floorplate is marked with the Ruger logo, and “RUGER”.

Sights / Optics: There are no provisions for iron sights. The top of the receiver is mounted with a Bushnell Engage 2-7×36 scope with a Deploy MOA reticle. The glass in the scope is clear. The scope shows no notable wear. The scope is mounted directly to the receiver by Ruger rings. The scope also comes with flip-up covers.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut stock, with a capped semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, red rubber Ruger buttpad, a checkered forend, and sling rings front and rear. There is a camo nylon sling attached to the stock. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock shows no notable wear. The checkering is well defined. The stock’s finish is intact throughout. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light operational wear on the bolt, and a few hairline scratches scattered throughout the metal surfaces. The sling rings show some light surface corrosion. The bluing is largely intact throughout. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine to Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its original serial number matching box, owner’s manual/paperwork, gun lock, soft case, 30 caliber boresnake, and the scope and sling as mentioned above.
Our Assessment: The Ruger M77 Hawkeye represents the evolution of Ruger’s controlled-round-feed bolt action platform, building on the legacy of the original M77 introduced in 1968. By 2008, the Hawkeye line had refined the design with a LC6 trigger, integral scope ring system, and classic American sporting profile. Chambered in .30-06 Springfield, this rifle carries one of the most enduring and versatile cartridges of the 20th century, originally adopted by the U.S. military in 1906 and long respected for its balanced performance across a wide range of bullet weights and field applications.
This example presents in fine to excellent condition, retaining approximately 99 percent of its original matte blued finish with only light operational wear on the bolt and minor hairline handling marks. The 22 inch barrel shows a bright bore with sharp rifling, and the action functions correctly with proper safety operation. The walnut stock remains in excellent condition with well-defined checkering and an intact finish. It is equipped with a Bushnell Engage 2-7×36 scope mounted in factory Ruger rings, along with flip-up covers, and includes its original serial number matching box, paperwork, soft case, sling, and a .30 caliber boresnake. This Hawkeye offers a well-kept example of Ruger’s modern sporting rifle design paired with a time-tested chambering.
