Our Assessment: Ruger introduced the Blackhawk in 1955 and it took the revolver world by storm with its extremely rugged design, a frame capable of handling the hottest hand-loads and perfect for silhouette shooting or handgun hunting. In 1968, Ruger introduced the .30 Carbine chambering, probably to capitalize on the surplus M1 Carbines and .30 ammo so available at the time. Popular for it’s moderate recoil and excellent accuracy potential, this example is one of those original model Blackhawks. Like most Ruger firearms, it is robust and built to last a lifetime.
