Markings: The right side of the frame is marked “AK-00129”. The left side of the frame “RUGER .44 MAGNUM CAL. / NEW MODEL SUPER BLACKHAWK”. The underside of the barrel is marked with the Newport address. The ejector shroud is marked, “ONE OF FIVE HUNDRED”. The barrel is marked, “ALASKA STATEHOOD 50th Anniversary” The topstrap is marked, “The Last Frontier”. Both grips have engravings of Alaska followed by, “ALASKA / 1959*2009”. There is gold inlaid scrollwork throughout.
Barrel Length: 4 5/8”
Sights/Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramped blade fixed to a barrel mounted base. The rear sight is an elevation/windage adjustable square-notch leaf in a base pinned to the top strap.
Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two-piece faux ivory with gold/black Ruger medallions on either side. There are minimal handling marks throughout. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips rate in Like-New condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10 and appears unfired outside of factory testing.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its original metal finish. The cylinder has a faint turn line. The screw heads are sharp. The pins are unmarred. The markings are clear and legible. Overall, this revolver rates in Excellent to Like-New condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Ruger Alaska Statehood 50th Anniversary Super Blackhawk was produced in 2009 to commemorate Alaska’s admission to the Union in 1959. Limited to 500 examples, this special-edition revolver combines the strength and traditional single-action operation of Ruger’s New Model Super Blackhawk with extensive commemorative decoration celebrating Alaska’s history and identity. Chambered in .44 Remington Magnum and fitted with a compact 4 5/8-inch barrel, the revolver features gold-accented scrollwork, state-themed grip decoration, commemorative barrel and topstrap embellishments, and a special AK-prefix serial number. Its limited production and distinctive presentation separate it from standard Super Blackhawk models. This example remains in Excellent to Like-New condition, retaining approximately 99% of its original blued finish. The metal surfaces exhibit virtually no handling wear, while the cylinder displays only a faint turn line. The screw heads remain sharp, the pins are unmarred, and the markings are clear and legible. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no visible erosion, rating 10/10 in this writer’s opinion and appearing unfired outside of factory testing. Its faux ivory grip panels retain their gold and black Ruger medallions and Alaska-themed decoration, showing minimal handling evidence with no chips or cracks and rating in Like-New condition.
The Alaska Statehood Super Blackhawk offers considerable appeal as both a limited-production Ruger commemorative and a distinctive tribute to America’s 49th state. Its low AK-prefix serial number, production run of only 500 revolvers, extensive gold-accented engraving, faux ivory grips, and short-barreled .44 Magnum configuration give it strong visual and collector interest.
