Our Assessment: The RJ Braverman pen gun was patented in 1990 and began production with the help of Derringer in 1993. This Stinger Pen Gun was unique from other Pen Guns, because it was designed to meet the NFA’s requirements to be considered a handgun. To fire the pen it must be engaged at a 90ish degree angle. The rifled barrel and firing mechanisms met the requirements and the first and only Pen Handgun was created. These Pen Guns are no longer in production and were made in limited quantities so they are becoming all the more hard to get a hold of. They came in several different calibers including the .25 Auto, .22Lr, and .380 with a conversion kit. While many people see pocket pistols as “Puny and ineffective”, concealed carry isn’t primarily about looking like a special ops secret agent with a fancy over the top over accessorized pistol. Concealed Carry is about short range and quick draw. This Pen Gun offers an added bonus – the element of surprise. Concealed carry is a duel between you and a threat where drawing your firearm quickly flips the tables to you being the threat over the previous threat. Concealed carry allows any citizen to quickly rise to the top of the food chain in any situation. And it is here that the Pen Gun offers a unique experience. This pistol can be easily concealed in its sheath or a front pocket. A true engineer always carries multiple pens in his or her front pocket, why not add a pen gun. The most important factor is that a concealed firearm is available when you need them and the Stinger allows for just that. It is the perfect backup side-kick to a sidekick that you can call upon when push comes to shove and is something you could see in a James Bond movie. Happy Bidding!
