Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “REMINGTON RAND INC. / SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A.”. The right side of the frame is marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY / No. 1346876”, “M1911A1 U.S. ARMY”. The left side of the frame is marked with an ordnance acceptance stamp. The barrel is marked “HS” on the lug, indicating a High Standard manufacture barrel.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a fixed blade. The rear sight is a square notch dovetailed to the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered brown plastic with the reinforcement rings around the screws, correct for wartime production. The checkering is well-defined with some handling wear. There are minor handling marks, but no cracks or significant chips. The grips rate in about Excellent condition.
Magazine Quantity & Condition: Three blued steel 7-round magazines in Very Good condition, included with a canvas US-marked dual magazine pouch.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore but there is stubborn fouling throughout. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This frame retains about 93% of its metal finish. The frame shows operational and handling wear. There is finish wear on the high edges and typical handling wear throughout.
The slide retains 55% of the refinish. The slide shows some thinning and minor oxidation.
The markings are sharp. The screw heads are serviceable with minor tool marks. Overall, this pistol rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The slide cycles smoothly, and the trigger is crisp. The safety and other controls function properly. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol includes a velvet-lined wooden display case with a U.S. marked dual magazine pouch and two magazines.
Our Assessment: This is a Remington Rand M1911A1, one of the most iconic service pistols of World War II. Produced in 1943, this pistol was part of the war effort and saw widespread use among U.S. forces. Remington Rand was the largest producer of M1911A1 pistols during the war, known for their high-quality machining and reliable performance.
This particular example is in Very Good condition, retaining much of its original parkerized finish with proper wartime markings and a High Standard barrel. The included display case and dual magazine pouch make this a fantastic collectible package.
