There is a short crack at the front of the forend. There are no chips. The checkering share some of the above blemishes but overall remains distinct. The LOP measures 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad and 13 1/8” to the wood. The drop at the comb is 1 3/8”. The drop at the heel is 2 1/8”. The cast is neutral. Bore Condition: The bores are mostly bright. There is there are a few light scratches but no erosion in the bores. There are also a few tiny dings in the barrel that are barely visible in the bores. In this writer’s opinion, the bores rate an 8 or 9 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 95% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light nicks, scratches and some minor operational wear on the underside of the barrels. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in Very Good condition. Please see the Mechanics section for additional information.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The barrel lockup has no play to the receiver. Please note: this shotgun comes with a receipt indicating that this shotgun has been serviced for doubling. We did not fire this firearm. We have cleaned this firearm and performed a mechanic’s check but expect many will want to clean the firearm again depending on their standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This shotgun comes with a leather carrying case that shows wear and some disrepair. There is also the service receipt as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: This Parker Brothers DH Grade Hammerless comes to us from between 1939-1942, one of last years under Remington’s ownership before phasing out to convert manufacturing to wartime production. The DH Grade was the first grade offered by Parker with their new black Titanic steel barrels and many buyers found the DH to be the ideal choice for a higher grade Parker, not thinking the difference in price between the DH, CH, and BH to be commensurate with the increase in price. It is a nice example of the model and would make a great addition to any collection, especially an avid bird hunter or Parker collector. Please see our photos and good luck in your bidding!
