Our Assessment: Alright folks, let’s talk about a true classic in the world of pistol shooting, the Remington Model XP-100R Bolt Action Pistol. This pistol has a rich history, having been introduced in the 1960s as a dedicated handgun for long-range target shooting and varmint hunting.
Chambered in the powerful 7mm-08 cartridge as well as others, but not this model, the Remington XP-100R was designed to provide exceptional accuracy and precision at longer distances than most pistols of its time. It features a 14.5-inch barrel and a bolt-action mechanism, which allows for a smooth and reliable operation. The barrel is also free-floated, reducing any potential accuracy-robbing vibrations.
The pistol has a sturdy synthetic stock, which can withstand the recoil of the powerful cartridges it’s chambered in. It originally had a set of iron sights but most shooters ended up getting rid of them and replacing them with a scope to further enhance its accuracy for its long range purposes.
Despite its relatively limited production run, the Remington Model XP-100R has remained a popular choice among pistol shooters for decades. It’s a testament to the quality of its design and its performance capabilities, and has become a true classic in the world of pistol shooting.
In summary, the Remington Model XP-100R Bolt Action Pistol chambered in 7mm-08 is a classic pistol with a rich history. Its design and performance capabilities make it a popular choice among pistol shooters, particularly those who enjoy long-range shooting and hunting. If you’re looking for a high-quality and accurate pistol with a storied past, the Remington Model XP-100R is definitely worth considering and with its already attached Bushnell 3500 Elite 2-6×32 Scope, this pistol is optimized for hitting those hard to reach targets downrange.
