Our Assessment: The Remington Model 870 Wingmaster is one of the most successful pump-action sporting shotguns ever produced, combining smooth operation, durable construction, and refined fit and finish. This 1970 example is chambered for .410 bore 3″ shells and features a 25″ vent-rib barrel with a fixed Skeet choke, white front bead, silver center bead, and press-checkered walnut furniture. Its small-bore chambering and Skeet configuration make it especially appealing for clay shooting, upland hunting, and collectors of vintage Remington sporting shotguns.

Introduced in 1950, the Model 870 quickly became the benchmark for American pump-action shotguns. The Wingmaster represented the premium sporting version, distinguished by its polished blue finish, walnut stocks, and exceptionally smooth dual-action-bar system. Small-bore Wingmasters in .410 are particularly desirable for their light recoil, fast handling, and comparatively limited production when compared with standard 12- and 20-gauge examples.

This shotgun retains about 90% of its original finish, with light scratches, corrosion freckling, thinning blue, and normal handling and operational wear. The walnut stocks remain in Good to Very Good condition with scattered dents, peeling finish on the grip cap, and no chips or cracks. The bright bore rates 9.5/10 with only minor fouling, and the action functions correctly. Overall, this is a Good to Very Good Remington 870 Wingmaster in a desirable .410 Skeet configuration.
