Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “WARNING-READ INSTRUCTION BOOK FOR SAFE OPERATION-FREE FROM” / “*****REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC. ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.*****” / “17 REM.” and proof marks. There are proof marks on the right side of the barrel. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number and “MODEL SEVEN”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated ramped base screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable U notch dovetailed to a ramped slide screwed to the barrel. The top of the receiver has three drilled and tapped scope-mount holes with plug screws.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut with a semi pistol grip, fluted comb, and a textured Remington rubber buttpad. There is a sling stud at each end of the stock. There is minor handling and storage wear. There are scattered scratches. There are no chips or cracks. The checkering remains sharp. The LOP measures 13 3/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the rubber buttpad. Overall, the stock rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its finish. There is handling wear and storage marks along the barrel. The barrel shows patina under bright light. There is dried storage oil along the metal surfaces. The screw heads are strong. The markings are clear and legible. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Remington Model Seven was introduced as a lighter, handier bolt action rifle derived from the Model 700 family, intended for hunters who wanted a compact sporting rifle with familiar Remington reliability and handling. Its shorter action, lighter weight, and trim profile made it popular for woods hunting, walking varmint rifles, and general field carry where a full-size rifle could feel cumbersome. Chambered here in .17 Remington, this rifle is especially interesting to varmint and predator hunters, as the .17 Remington is known for high velocity, flat trajectory, and excellent small-game performance with minimal recoil.
