Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked with Remington’s Ilion, NY address, “.35 REM.”, the “PM” date code, and a series of proof marks. The right side of the barrel is marked with a series of proofs. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number and “Remington / MODEL 600”.
Barrel Length: 18 1/2″ Vent Rib.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass beaded black blade, screwed to the top of the vent rib. The rear sight is an adjustable U-notch sight, screwed to the top of the vent rib. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for optics.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece, press-checkered, wood stock, with a semi-pistol grip, fluted monte carlo comb, serrated plastic Remington buttplate, and a press-checkered forend. The LOP measures 13 7/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. This stock shows evidence of a refinish, as the finish on the stock is a bit thick, and there are areas where the finish is uneven. The stock shows light wear, with only a few light scratches and compressions throughout. The press-checkering is well defined. The stock’s refinish is intact. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Fine condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with light thinning of the finish on the top of the receiver from where scope mounts used to sit. There is very minor freckling of corrosion starting to form on the bolt body and bolt handle. There is light operational wear on the friction surfaces of the action. The finish is largely intact, otherwise. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are tooled, but retain serviceable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good to Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The Remington Model 600 was one of the most innovative sporting rifles of the mid 1960s, designed as a lightweight, compact woods rifle with distinctive styling that included its ventilated rib barrel and dog-leg bolt handle. Produced from 1964 to 1968, the Model 600 quickly developed a following among hunters who appreciated its fast handling characteristics. Chambered here in .35 Remington, a cartridge introduced in 1906 and long favored for dense timber hunting due to its moderate recoil and effective terminal performance at practical ranges, this June 1965 example represents a classic combination for eastern and brush country game.
This rifle retains approximately 98 percent of its original metal finish, with only light thinning on the top of the receiver from prior scope mount placement and minor freckling beginning on the bolt body and handle. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates 10 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion. The walnut stock shows evidence of a refinish with a heavier application of finish and some uneven areas, yet remains structurally sound with strong press-checkering and tight fit to the action. The action and safety function correctly. Overall, this is a very well-preserved mid-1960s Model 600 in a classic woods cartridge.
