Our Assessment:  The Remington Model 1100 is one of the most successful American semi-automatic shotguns of the modern sporting era, introduced in the 1960s as a gas-operated successor to earlier recoil-operated designs. Its softer shooting characteristics, good reliability, and broad availability in multiple gauges and configurations made it a favorite among hunters, clay target shooters, and general sporting users for decades. The LT-20 variant was Remington’s lighter 20 gauge version, intended to provide the same familiar Model 1100 handling in a trimmer, more responsive package for upland hunting and smaller-gauge sporting use. This 1981 example is chambered for 2 3/4” 20 gauge shells and wears a 28” vent-rib barrel with fixed Full choke, giving it traditional field and target appeal. The floral-style receiver engraving, serrated rib, walnut furniture, and classic blue finish give it the look of a well-made late-20th-century Remington sporting shotgun.

This Remington Model 1100 LT-20 is a 20 gauge semi-automatic shotgun with a 28” vent-rib barrel, fixed Full choke, silver bead sight, blue finish, refinished walnut stocks, paperwork, magazine tube plug, and serial-matching box. The shotgun retains about 96% of its metal finish with scattered handling and storage wear, barrel patina, and assembly scratches, while the refinished stocks rate Fine with minor marks under the refinish, sharp checkering, and no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with no erosion, rating 9.75 out of 10 in this writer’s opinion, and the action functions correctly. This shotgun should appeal to Remington collectors, 20 gauge hunters, and shooters looking for a clean LT-20 with box and paperwork.
