Our Assessment: The Remington Model 11-87 Premier represents the refined evolution of Remington’s gas-operated autoloading shotgun line, introduced in 1987 as an improvement over the earlier Model 1100. Designed to reliably cycle both light and heavy loads without adjustment, the 11-87 quickly became a staple among hunters and clay shooters seeking versatility and reduced recoil. The Premier grade added upgraded finishes and tasteful engraving, elevating the platform beyond its utilitarian roots. Chambered in 20 gauge for both 2 3/4” and 3” shells, this configuration offers a well-balanced combination of lighter recoil and effective performance, with the raised vent rib barrel and interchangeable Rem Choke system allowing for adaptable use across a variety of shooting disciplines.
This example presents in Excellent condition, retaining nearly all of its original finish with only minimal handling marks visible. The walnut stocks remain sharp and well-kept with crisp checkering and only minor signs of use, complementing the engraved receiver that defines the Premier line. The bore is bright and clean, rating 9.5/10, and the action functions correctly, reflecting the dependable performance expected from the 11-87 design. Included with the shotgun is a clear case and a full complement of Remington choke tubes, enhancing its versatility right out of the box. Overall, this is a high-condition example of a modern Remington sporting autoloader, combining aesthetics, function, and adaptability in a single package.
