The balance of the finish shows light wear, with some light thinning of the finish on the left action bar, and on the magazine from use. There are a couple of small dings in the trigger guard. Otherwise, the bluing is largely intact throughout. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are lightly tooled, but retain strong and serviceable slots, and the pins are unmarred. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the cross-bolt safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the magazine as mentioned above.
Our Assessment: The Remington Gamemaster Model 760 Carbine is one of the most recognizable American pump-action centerfire rifles of the post-war era, offering rapid follow-up capability in a compact and field-ready package. Produced in May 1977, this 18 1/2 inch carbine variant emphasizes handiness without sacrificing the proven performance of the .30-06 Springfield cartridge. Introduced in 1906, the .30-06 became one of the most successful and versatile sporting cartridges ever developed, delivering dependable performance across a wide spectrum of North American game. The shorter barrel and balanced profile of the carbine configuration make it especially well suited for timber and brush hunting.
This example retains approximately 98 percent of its original blued finish, with only light thinning on the left action bar and magazine consistent with normal operation. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and rates 9.75 out of 10. The press-checkered walnut stocks remain attractive with only light surface wear and well-defined checkering. The action and cross-bolt safety function correctly. Please see our photos for a better understanding of condition and good luck with your bids! – J.D.
