Our Assessment: The Remington Model 700 VSSF is a precision-oriented varmint rifle built around the proven Model 700 action and configured with a heavy fluted stainless barrel and rigid composite stock. Chambered in .223 Remington with a 26″ barrel, this 2003 example is well suited for varmint hunting, target shooting, and other precision-oriented applications where a stable platform and mild recoil are desirable. The mounted Burris Signature 8-32x scope complements the rifle’s intended role by providing substantial magnification for deliberate shooting at extended distances.
This rifle is in Very Good to Fine condition overall, retaining about 98% of its original stainless finish with only minor superficial handling marks. The composite stock remains in Very Good condition with a notable scuff on the left side of the wrist and a few minor surface imperfections, but the spiderweb finish remains intact and there are no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10/10, while the action and safety function correctly. The bolt jeweling remains vivid and bright. The included Burris Signature 8-32x scope has clear glass and rates in Very Good condition. Please see our photos for a better understanding of the condition and good luck with your bids! – J.D.
