Our Assessment: The Remington 700 Classic series was introduced as a limited annual production run highlighting traditional chamberings in a classic walnut-stocked configuration. By 1996, the Model 700 Classic had become a respected offering within Remington’s lineup, appealing to shooters who appreciated timeless styling paired with the proven strength of the Model 700 action. Manufactured in Ilion, New York, this June 1996 example reflects the period when Remington continued to produce traditional big-game rifles with classic lines and factory iron sights.

Chambered in .375 H&H Magnum, this rifle is built around one of the most historically significant and enduring dangerous-game cartridges ever developed. Introduced in the early 20th century, the .375 H&H established a reputation for smooth feeding, reliable extraction, and substantial stopping power, becoming a benchmark for African and large North American game. The 24 inch barrel complements the cartridge’s established performance profile, and the factory iron sights reinforce its intended role as a serious big-game rifle.

This example presents in very good to fine overall condition, retaining nearly all of its original blued finish with minimal visible wear. The bore remains bright with sharp rifling, and the walnut stock shows light handling marks with some finish crazing but remains structurally sound and well fitted. Overall, this Remington 700 Classic in .375 H&H stands as a well-preserved example of a 1990s production big-bore hunting rifle built around one of the most respected magnum cartridges in sporting history.
