Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked with Remington’s address and 2-line warning, along wit h”375 H&H MAG”, the “PQ” date code, and a couple proof marks. The right side of the barrel is marked with a series of proof marks. The left side of the receiver is marked with the serial number and “Remington / MODEL 700”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated ramped base, screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable U-notch sight on a riser, screwed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for optics.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece checkered walnut stock, with a semi-pistol grip, fluted straight comb, brown rubber Remington buttpad, and sling studs front and rear. The LOP measures 13 3/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock shows no notable wear. The finish is intact, and the checkering is well defined. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light storage wear, with minor surface corrosion on the right side of the friction surface in the action and on the back of the receiver. Otherwise, the bluing is deep, dark, and intact. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine to Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its original serial number matching box, and owner’s manual/paperwork.
Our Assessment: The Remington Model 700 Classic series is especially interesting because Remington offered the rifle in a different featured chambering during each production year, creating a succession of distinctive sporting variations. The 1996 Classic was chambered in the powerful .375 H&H Magnum, pairing the proven Model 700 action with a 24″ barrel, traditional checkered walnut furniture, factory iron sights, and a hinged floorplate. The .375 H&H has been a benchmark large-game cartridge since the early 20th century and remains highly regarded for elk, moose, bear, and dangerous-game hunting, giving this one-year Classic chambering particular appeal among both hunters and Remington collectors.
This rifle is in Fine to Excellent condition overall, retaining about 98% of its original blue finish with only light storage wear and minor surface corrosion on the right-side action friction surface and rear of the receiver. The checkered walnut stock remains in Excellent condition with an intact finish, well-defined checkering, a tight fit to the barreled action, and no chips or cracks. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10/10, while the action and safety function correctly. Its serial-number-matching factory box and owner’s manual/paperwork add welcome completeness to this desirable .375 H&H Magnum Model 700 Classic.
