The top of the receiver is mounted with a Burris Fullfield II 3-9×40 scope, with a BDC reticle. The glass in the scope is clear. The scope shows light wear, with a couple dings in the turret caps. Overall, the scope rates in Very Good condition. The scope is mounted to the receiver by a two-piece base, and sits in 1″ rings.

The stock shows light wear, with a few light scratches, dings, and compressions scattered throughout. The checkering is mostly well defined, with only a couple dings in the checkering on the wrist. The stock’s finish is largely intact. The stock fits tightly to the barreled action, with no play. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the stock rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 85% of its original metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear, with light freckling of surface corrosion throughout the barrel, along with minor pitting towards the muzzle. There is some minor finish loss at the muzzle, on the bolt handle, and on the front sight. The jeweling on the bolt is mostly bright, but there is some operational wear on the bolt. The bottom metal shows light scratches and dings. The finish is largely intact, otherwise. The markings are clear and legible. The screw heads are lightly tooled, but retain strong and serviceable slots. Overall, this rifle rates in Good to Very Good condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with the sling and scope as mentioned above.

Our Assessment: Remington’s Model 700 BDL is one of the classic American bolt-action sporting rifles, pairing the proven Model 700 action with upgraded BDL trim, walnut furniture, and traditional hunting-rifle styling. This 1972 C&R-eligible example is chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum, a powerful, flat-shooting magnum cartridge well suited for long-range hunting and larger game. This rifle features a 24″ barrel, factory iron sights, internal magazine with hinged floorplate, press-checkered walnut stock with Monte Carlo comb and cheekpiece, leather sling, and a Burris Fullfield II 3-9×40 scope with clear glass and BDC reticle. The C&R status, classic BDL configuration, strong 10/10 bore, useful Burris optic, and .300 Win. Mag. chambering should appeal to Remington collectors and hunters looking for a traditional big-game rifle with practical field capability.

This rifle rates in Good to Very Good overall condition, retaining about 85% of its original blued finish. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and no erosion, rating 10/10 in this writer’s opinion. The walnut stock rates in Very Good condition, showing light scattered scratches, dings, and compressions, with mostly well-defined checkering, a largely intact finish, tight fit, and no chips or cracks. The metal shows light wear, including freckling of surface corrosion throughout the barrel, minor pitting toward the muzzle, finish loss at the muzzle, bolt handle, and front sight, and light scratches and dings on the bottom metal, though the finish remains largely intact overall. The bolt jeweling is mostly bright with some operational wear, the Burris scope rates in Very Good condition, the markings are clear and legible, the screw heads are lightly tooled but serviceable, and the action and safety function correctly. This rifle includes the mounted scope and leather sling as described. Please see our photos for a better understanding of condition, and good luck on your bids! – J.D.
