Our Assessment: The model 600 was originally designed as a guide gun. The model 600 was produced from 1964-1967, built to contend with the Winchester model 94. The model 600 didn’t quite hit the mark that Remington was going for. The most notable feature of the model 600 is its full length nylon vented rib. With the majority of the model 600 loving the rifle, it was largely despised by the critics, even though the rifles shot exceptionally well. The barrel only being 18.5” made the recoil fully felt. The model 600 is a highly sought after rifle. The model 600 chambered in the 6.5mm Rem Mag would be a great hunting rifle. This rifle would also make a great addition to any collection.
