Our Assessment:  Production of the Model 1917 began in large numbers in 1917, and the rifle saw significant use during World War I. It was praised for its reliability, durability, and accuracy. While it served alongside the Springfield M1903, the Model 1917 became particularly favored by American troops due to its smooth action and ability to handle the powerful .30-06 cartridge.

After World War I, the Model 1917 remained in service as a secondary rifle and was also used by reserve and National Guard units. It saw limited use in World War II and was eventually replaced by more modern rifles. Nevertheless, the Model 1917 remains a well-regarded rifle in military history, known for its solid construction and contribution to the U.S. war effort during World War I.

This Model 1917 service rifle was made at the tail end of WWI by Remington. This Model 1917 is in great shape for being over 100 years old and comes with an era correct bayonet. It has clear Remington markings on the receiver and barrel. This would make a nice addition to a Military collection. Good luck.
