Our Assessment: The Remington Model 11-48 in .410 bore with a full choke is a refined and elegant version of Remington’s classic semi-automatic shotgun, tailored for small game hunting and sport shooting. Introduced in 1949, the Model 11-48 was the first shotgun to use Remington’s “floating chamber” recoil system, which allowed for reliable cycling across different loads while maintaining a lightweight design.
In .410 bore, the Model 11-48 is particularly prized for its light recoil and precision, making it an excellent choice for hunting small game such as rabbits, squirrels, and birds, as well as for clay target shooting. The full choke barrel enhances shot density, providing tighter patterns ideal for these applications.
The shotgun features a blued steel receiver and a finely checkered walnut stock, embodying the classic aesthetics that Remington is known for. Its sleek lines and balanced feel contribute to its reputation for being both a pleasure to carry and shoot. Although production ceased in the late 1960s, the Remington Model 11-48 in .410 bore remains a sought-after firearm for collectors and enthusiasts, valued for its craftsmanship, reliability, and versatility in the field.
