Our Assessment: What makes this Remington model 31 stand out among the rest is the US Property markings. According to Cantfield’s Complete Guide to Combat Shotguns the observed serial number range for model 31 Riot shotguns is 51,000 to 63,500. Leaving 12,500 potential guns. This shotgun has all the right markings in the right places and the proper buttplate as well. It has a great service appearance as well giving us confidence that the gun is original. The only feature that was different on this shotgun than others observed by Cantfield is the barrel length of 19” instead of 20”. So please do your research and look at the great pictures of this shotgun. We think you will see a RARE and honest WWII Remington Model 31 Riot.
