Our Assessment: The Remington 870 is undoubtedly the most iconic home defense shotgun in the United States. First introduced in 1950, the Model 870 would quickly become the most loved shotgun in America, far surpassing anything the Winchester Model 12 could muster. By 1973 it would earn its title as “best-selling shotgun in history”. Remington knew that they had something very special in their factories (stats don’t lie) and they began producing many different variants of the now iconic shotgun. One of these first variants was this Magnum Model you see elegantly displayed here in these photos. The United States Police Force found a new love for these sleek, reliable, and well crafted shotguns. Many adopted the Magnum 870 for its 3” chamber for its increased stopping power. Many within the police force would modify their shotguns to achieve a unique versatility that would fit their person. One of these modifications included removing the wood buttstock and replacing it with a folding stock as this one is currently configured. Another rare modification along with the folding stock is the pistol grip that this one has as well. One could argue that this modification was made for close quarter scenarios, but based on how amazing this shotgun looks with that SPAS-12 aesthetic, it would be hard to imagine that this wasn’t the main reason for putting the folding stock on. It simply looks incredible and holding it while collapsed or extended feels incredible. The slide is as smooth as it gets, the racking of the pump action sounds as good as it gets, it feels as good as it gets, and for the trained eye – it looks as good as it gets. Claim this“best-selling shotgun in history” today as see why the 870 still holds its title with ease. This is the perfect home defense weapon, the sound of engaging the pump action is sure to scare off any intruder. Please see specs below, our photos, and good luck on your bid!
