Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “SIG SAUER P229S”, “SIGARMS INC. / EXETER-NH-USA”. The left side of the frame is marked “SIGARMS INC. / EXETER-NH”. The right side of the frame is marked “AI20738” with a Nitro Proof and “MADE IN GERMANY”. The right side of the slide is marked “AI20738” with a Nitro Proof. The chamber is marked “.40 S&W”. The right side of the rear sight is marked “LPA”.
Barrel Length: 4.4” with compensator
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a white dotted blade dovetailed to the slide. The rear sight is a rectangular notch sight with elevation and windage adjustment. 3 DOT White.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece wrap around rubber overmolded panels with cobblestone texture and “SIG ARMS” molded on each side. The front strap is checkered for increased control and dexterity. The grips rate in about Very Good overall condition with mild handling wear. There are no rips or tears.
Magazine Quantity and Condition: Two SIG 10rd .40 S&W magazines in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore.There is some fouling built up in the grooves. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light operation wear on the chamber and slide. There is some build up in the muzzle brake. The screw heads are sharp and the markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. Features Decocker Lever. Extended Mag release.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with its factory case and total of two magazines.
Our Assessment: The SIG P229S competition pistol was first introduced in 1998. It was not continuously manufactured and only a relatively small number were made. The P229S was permanently discontinued in 2005. Every SIG P229S pistol was assembled by a dedicated technician at the SIG SAUER facilities in Germany. Each pistol was hand fitted and hand tuned to ensure smooth operation and the kind of superior accuracy you would expect from a SIG target grade pistol. SIG P229 Sport pistols are rigorously tested beyond normal limits and adjusted to ensure the very highest levels of performance. This P229 is a rare .40 S&W with with the threaded compensator barrel.
