Markings:  The left side of the barrel is marked “-WINCHESTER- / -TRADE MARK-”, “MODEL-70-FEATHERWEIGHT- / MADE IN U.S.A.-WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL”, “-270 WIN.-”.  The bottom of the barrel hidden by the stock is marked “SUPER”, “55”.  The right side of the barrel shank is marked “345499”.  The left side of both the barrel and receiver are marked with Winchester WP proofs.  The left side of the receiver is marked “WINCHESTER / -TRADE MARK-”.  The bolt has a matching serial number “345499” marked on the outside of the Jeweled surface. The floor plate is marked “-SUPER GRADE-”.

Barrel Length: 22”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade dovetailed to a hooded, serrated, ramped base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a folding “U”-notch sight with white triangle aiming reference dovetailed to the rear of the barrel; the notch is fine-adjustable for elevation. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for an optic (none present). The left-rear of the receiver is drilled, tapped and filled for a receiver sight (none present).

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one-piece checkered walnut with metal capped semi-pistol grip, monte-carlo comb with cheek piece, ebony tipped forend, checkered alloy buttplate and sling plates front and rear. The stock has some scattered little nicks and marks through the finish including some minor compressions at the sling plates and belly toward the plate. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 5/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has some scattered marks around heel and toe with some heavier nicks on the heel. The stock rates in about Fine overall condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is minor fouling down the length and a couple minor spots of frosting a few inches from the muzzle. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10 for C&R.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows little to no operation wear. There is thinning on the leading edges, muzzle, and front sight hood.  The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
