Overall Condition (KS012): This handgun retains about 94% of its finish. There are areas of stubborn dried cosmoline, notably on the barrel and in crevices. There is light thinning around the muzzle. The cylinder has a turn-line through the finish along with the same type of wear found elsewhere. Pins are unmarred, and all markings are clear. Overall, this revolver rates in Fine condition.
Mechanics (Both): The actions function correctly. The cylinders lock with light play at each stop. We did not fire these revolvers. As with all used firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork, and Accessories (Both): These revolvers come in a matched pair box. The box shows some spill stains on the top with other scattered finish wear. There are no rips or tears.
Our Assessment: The Frontier Scout is a scaled down version of its predecessors/grandfathers, the SAA and Frontier Six Shooter. Still made by Colt and true to the original design, this pair was made in 1962 and are the ‘62 model, chambered in the ubiquitous .22 Long Rifle. These examples are in Fine and Fine-Plus condition respectively with light handling and operational wear, a great bore and strong mechanics. These should make a fun little dual-wielding plinkers if you’re into that sort of thing. They also may find interest with the Colt collectors. Prospective Cowboy Action Shooters would do well to place a bid for these! Please see our photos and good luck!
