Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked, “9696” within an oval as well as with Chinese Script and the serial number “23018691”. The left side of the chamber is marked with a proof. The top of the bolt carrier is marked “18691”. The rear of the receiver is marked “18691”. The bottom of the barrel is marked “KES ATL GA MADE IN CHINA SKS 7.62X39”. The left side of the buttstock is marked “18691”. The bottom of the trigger guard and hinged magazine are marked “18691”. There is a deep stamped “K” on the left side of the stock.
Barrel Length: 20.5”.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post and the rear sight is a “U” notched sliding sight escalator marked from “1 – 10” and “3” for the battle position.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is wood with a wooden upper handguard, steel buttplate with trap door for cleaning kit (not included), sling swivel in the bottom of the buttstock and finger grooves in the forestock. The left side of the gas block has a sling ring. The bottom of the barrel has a cleaning rod and provision for a spring bayonet that has been removed. There is some minor surface wear across the stock including some light scratched and compression marks. There are no chips or cracks. . The LOP measures 12.25” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Fine overall condition for a Pre-Ban Import Rifle.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows minimal wear from past responsible use and storage. The screw heads are sharp and any pins are serviceable. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition. There are some scratches on the receiver.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: A great example of a commercially imported SKS, this simple and sturdy military rifle makes for a fun platform to shoot. This classic Chinese SKS boasts a nice bright bore and a sturdy stock with all matching serialized parts. Which means this firearm is ready to be put through the test. Everything is tight and functions, with a great mix of classic style and modern reliability. This is a tough SKS that should be a great range gun.
