There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 1/2″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has light-moderate wear with well defined checkering. Type of Finish: Matte Blue
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are a few scattered minor nicks and scuffs. The action shows light operational wear and there is light handling wear on the bolt handle. The bright-finished bolt body has some scattered discoloration from oxidation. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Very Good-Fine condition and would rate Fine-plus but for the wear in the stock.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. There is a safety mounted on the bolt sleeve. Pushed forwards, the safety is OFF. If pulled back all the way, it locks both the bolt and the trigger. If pulled back half-way, it blocks only the trigger. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: This is a vintage pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 rifle chambered in .220 Swift and made in 1957. It is a Standard Rifle configuration with 26″ matte finish, and Monte-Carlo comb. The .220 Swift cartridge is a wonderful varmint cartridge capable of velocities exceeding 4,000 fps and some find it suitable for medium game due to the outsized damage velocity grants to its rather small projectiles. The rifle is in Very Good-Fine condition with about 97% of its finish remaining, wear in the stocks consistent with use in the field, a bright bore with sharp rifling, and strong mechanics. This is a beautiful rifle in a great varmint cartridge that is ready to blow up some prairie dogs or add to your Winchester collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
