Sights / Optics: The front sight is an ivory beaded blade dovetailed into a hooded ramp integral to the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable folding U notch dovetailed into the barrel. The left side of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a peep sight. The top of the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope base.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is one piece checkered walnut, ebony tipped forend, capped semi pistol grip, pancake cheekpiece, and rubber recoil pad. The LOP is 13″ from trigger to the end of the recoil pad. There are scratches and compression dents throughout. There are spots of weathered finish loss most notably near the recoil pad. There are no chips or cracks. Overall this stock is in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. There is light copper fouling. In this writer’s opinion this bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its original metal finish. There are light scratches scattered throughout. There is handling and operational wear. The finish on the bottom metal is worn and corrosion stained. The screw heads are lightly tooled but serviceable. The markings range from faint to clear. The bolt is serial matched to the receiver with faint but legible markings on the bolt. Overall this rifle is in Good to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, as does the safety. We did not fire this rifle, but we did perform a mechanic’s check. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Pre-64 Winchester Model 70 Super Grade is a highly desirable classic sporting rifle, manufactured in 1952 and chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The Super Grade configuration places it above the standard Model 70 in collector interest, with features such as the ebony-tipped forend, capped semi-pistol grip, pancake cheekpiece, upgraded checkered walnut stock, and refined sporting profile.
